Boogers: Powercore problem with UAD-1---How to change IRQ?

OK, I have a Poco and 2 UAD-1 in my primary DAW---Gigabyte ULI chipset. So far so good...

EXCEPT that... every once in a while, when I start Cubase and open a CPR (it doesn't happen until a CPR is opened), I'll get a 'Powercore Messenger' window open up which says the plugs aren't working.

So I then go to Device Manager and sho 'nuff the Poco board has a warning message. I noticed that it is sharing an IRQ with a USB buss. So I went into the BIOS and forced that PCI slot to IRQ 4---which I know is free.

But when I reboot, it is still on IRQ 19.

So... assuming the shared IRQ is the problem, how the heck do I force it to use an known free IRQ?

TIA.

you can´t like this, the slot and the usb host port are linked on a hardware level, so changing the irq will also change the usb´s irq. To change irq´s if that is causing the problem, you need to change slots. Or if you don´t use that usb ports you can disable one of the usb universal host controlers in device manager untill you find the one that is sharing with your powercore and then leave it disabled. I had to do that on my mobo because it was sharing with my audio card and I didn´t need 6 usb ports. Some mobo´s let you disable usb ports in the bios wich is always better, mine only on or off for all ports. Ofcourse if you disable 2 ports (it´s 2 ports on one host) it´s a lucky guess if it will disable the one that is sharing an irq.
Hope this helps. It is a good way also to see if it is the sharing that is causing the problem, because if disabling doesn´t help it isn´t the sharing (although swapping slots might still help)
Good luck

That's exactly what happened---the USB IRQ just followed along. Grr...

I'll try your suggestion. Hopefully the 2 USB IRQs are divided into 'front' and 'back' connectors. If so, I can live without the front ones.

THANKS!
