Bootable External SSD and LUNA

I sometimes run my Mac from an external, bootable SSD drive and, by and large, things work normally, apart from the inability to install system updates via System Preferences.

However, in the case of UA, I couldn’t get the reduced security option in recovery mode to stick, despite many attempts. Everything else is fully installed: latest UA/Luna, plug-ins, etc.

Seems that LUNA isn't fully functional when Mac is booted from the external SSD, and only works properly when booted from the internal SSD?

We do not support external boot on Apple silicon.
