Cascading plugin failure

Last night I put one UAD-1 plugin too many into a project, exceeded the CPU limit on the card and experience a cascading failure of ALL plugins in the project. Removing the offending plugin and restarting the project did no good. ALL UAD-1 plugins would still not work. So I tried starting another project and none of those plugins would work. Subsequently, ALL plugins in ALL projects would no longer work. I had to reboot my machine to get the plugins and the card to function again.

Can anybody tell me if this is normal behavior? I am running Sonar 4.0.4 with 1 UAD-1 card.

Thanks,

I would call this normal. Using the CPU limit should avoid this.

Normal? Really? Just one too many plugins in a project causes all plugins to fail in all other projects? Requiring a reboot of the computer? Granted, I don't understand the technical details, but that seems a rather extreme system response. Guess I'll be a bit more careful in the future.

I never had that. Just a bunch of crackles and removing the plug helped. but I was never way over 100%.

did you try disable/enable to fix it before rebooting?

Could you not have disabled the card and then rescanned for hardware changes to enable it again - that should work

Unless you're on a Mac - I don't know if this is possible? Anyone...

Yesterday I inadvertantly overloaded my UAD-1 card to 11%. It started crackling and popping. I removed the extra instance and all was well again. Sorry to hear that yours was more serious.
