Hey Forum! A question about my setup. DISCLAIMER: This is academic because the set up is what it's gonna be for the next little while, but I was thinking (and listening) and I thought I would raise it here for the sake of conversation.
I use first generation Apollo hardware sandwiched between Dangerous Music DA and AD. The way my system is set up I can listen to the D-Box+ D/A and Convert-AD+ conversion path through the AES/SPDIF input, and I can listen to the Apollo conversion path through the Analog input. Obviously it's no contest - the Dangerous conversion sounds way better! I use the UAD-2 plugs and console, but I clock + print with the AD+, and I monitor through the D-Box. The question here is: does it matter if I have a silverface / blackface / or x if ultimately I'm going to be using the Dangerous conversion to make my mixing decisions through the digital inputs?
As I said, I won't be upgrading any time soon anyways, but I'm interested in your thoughts.
