apple g5 + logic pro 7.1.1 + maudio + uad = ringmodulator?

Apple Power Macintosh G5 /2.0 DP (PCI-X 2) (M9455LL/A)
Apple Logic Pro 7.1.1
M-Audio Audiophile 2496
UAD-1 Software Version 4.3

First: before i bought the uad card my system runs without any dropouts and artefacts. it is a stable system without crashes and just needed some good dsp-fx on a external card

so i take a train and drive to musikstore cologne with an eys on focusrite liquid mix and uad-1 card. the guy tells me he has no problems with his uad card and the studio where i worked before owns some of the emulated originals. tick, tack, tick tack and half an hour later iam a owner of the uad-1 card

the first time i noticed something like a bitcrusher and
ringmodulation effect is as i use the uad plugin 1176SE on a
instrument track with battery 2 from native instruments five minutes after i installed the card. the sounds comes not from this track itself it comes from the main 2track output in logic.

yesterday i found a g5 info (http://www.uaudio.com/support/software/UAD/tips/G5.html) and changing the pci-card setup. pci port 2 is used by the m-audio soundcard and 3 is used by the uad-card (2 and 3 seemed to be shared busses). so i switched the uad card to pci-port 4 which give me some hours without this ring and bitcrusher noise on my main output. (meanwhile i have testet all available ports). did i mention that it comes back...

there is no special thing i do to get this noise. i tested the uad-card on sessions with multiinstruments, seperated session with uad plugins on audiotracks only and did another session with uad -plugins on a bus or the main inserts. the noise stays and sounds always like the same type of ringmodulation.

every ringmodulation startet with something like dropouts or crackles
the it switches to the bitcrusher/ringmodulation matrix effect. the
store where i bought it give me some tipps to solve the problem like downgrade your software version to 4.2 or upgrade your setup to logic 7.2.2 which implements a upgrade to 10.4 and every plugin that is installed for tiger without knowing that the problem is fixed. this means uadcard $350 + logic 7.2 update and osx104 update and the time to get all tigerupdates for my system

the only workarround who fixes my problems now is to restart the g5
and logic or deinstall the card and bring it back to the shop to by another card:-(

i also disable/enable amd support, live mode, change logic buffer settings and latency.

HELP PLEASE

I had a similar problem earlier when I used 2 UAD1 cards and a Powercore PCI (original green long card) in my dual 1.8GHz G5 (PCI slots) with MOTU 828 mk2. However this problem didn't happen always with uad1 plugins but powercore plugins. What happeneds was exactly like your problem. The sound went nuts and might come back normal again but went nuts again, it kept looping between the good and bad sound. If the sound got totally ruined, I could get rid of it by resetting the core audio driver in logic or removing the powercore plugins. It was strange that I didn't get this problem if I used the built in audio of my G5 but with motu. However this problem disappeared completely after upgrading the poco pci to a pci mk2. Currently I have 2 pci mk2's and 1 uad1. I guess your soundcard is not compatible with the uad1 combination. Have you tried with only 1 uad1?

the problem is gone

but to fix it i have to invest 300 euros for a new soundcard. seems that the m-audio card which is a pci card wont work with the uad card. now i own a presonus firewirecard and all my problems are gone. my money also :-(

my working setup

apple g5 dual 2ghz with 3.5gig ram
apple logic pro 7.1.1
uad card project pak
presonus firebox
