Cubase 4 and linear knob mode

In Cubase 4, I cannot get the linear knob mode to work with UAD plug-ins. It just stays in the circular mode. It seems to be working for other plug-ins, but not UAD. Anyone else got this?

Look in the UAD Performance's configuration dialog if the «Use host mode» is checked, and see if that works.

Are you talking about altering the settings without using the graphic interface?

I can never remember the key combination, but I think in C4 I'm getting it to work by hitting Shft/Cntrl/Alt and left clicking the \"E\" button. I always use this for the Neve EQ, just so I can see what the hell I'm doing.

I had this problem and opened the UAD Performance's configuration dialog as mentioned in the post earlier. Use host mode was already selected but I deselected it, selected linear mode and then reselected it.

It seems to work ok now.

Have had the same problem with the Sonalksis plugs. Strange, I think, since it works correctly in SX3. Seems to be some kind of update problem, that is, cubase doesn't report it's knob mode correctly to plugins already installed (until they ask for it, when, say, you change the knob mode...).

OK, I confess: I have no idea what the \"knob mode\" does, circular, linear, etc.

Can anyone summarize it briefly for me?

It is the way you have to move the mouse over a control (like knob) within the graphical plug in Cubase example.
-Linear mean that once you click on the knob, moving up or down your mouse in a straight line changes the value/position of the knob.
-Circular mean that you have to move the mouse in circular around the knob to change his value. The latest reproduce somewhere the real way to move a knob on a hw device.

Finally, you can choose the way to do that from the Preference dialog in SX, and using the UAD dialog, you can override or not the SX's preference. So if nothing buggy, UAD give the way to choose the manner wathever it is in Cubase....

Thanks! Seems to be working now. I guess UA should straighten this out with Steinberg until the next release.
