Cubase SX3 crashes with v4 uad?

i've had a frustrating day where songs that were fine have been crashing for no obvious reason i can see, aprt from uad plugin error message coming up. using cubase sx 3.02 and uad v4. crashes seem random. anybody else notice this? also, is it safe to rollback to earlier uad drivers; will that affect my plugin authorisations, song loading etc?
thanks in advance.

OK: think i'm making progress. i found that i had 2 copies of powered plugins folder; one containing earlier v3.7 and later one with v4.0.
i deleted the earlier ones.
so far, seems more stable. this also cures the version mismatch error i got when opening sx2.
during install of v4, i obviously neglected to navigate to same vst plugins folder as for previous install...

you should try something like nortons ghost , then you can upgrade programs without giving it a second thought and if something does't work then just reinstall the old ghost image i'd hate to think i didn't have a backup now thats scary!!!!!!! with how complex programs are getting nowadays its had to believe theres still people outhere not using backup image software , for the sake of 20 quid it saves massive headaches.....

im running 3.1.1 now , within 5 minutes i can ghost to 3.1 , 3.0 or even 2.2 :D

i actually do use norton ghost; it's saved my session skin a few times.
one thing i've found; certain plugins don't survive the ghost process; spectrasonics stylus rmx needs reauthorising, as does emulatorx and some others. not a major hassle unless the client is 10 mins away from the studio...
so even with ghost, a dodgy upgrade (not that i'm saying sx3.199999xxxxx is dodgy!) can still be unwelcome.

Same here. Have the Trilogy, Atmos, Rmx and on a recent drive swap, wholla! Didn't have to re-authorize anything. Ghost is handy and quick 8)

My gues is that something was changed when you put the ghost back like a partition sizs/name/clustersize itc. I luckily never had to re-authorize.

well; during my last ghost restore, i did have to reauthorise stylus rmx. p.s. there is an upgrade to stylus that i haven't installed yet; maybe that fixes the problem?
Ed
ive had ghost images with all versions of RMX and never had to re-authorize , the latest 1.5 version doesn't need authorizing if you install it over an older version.
