Ok. Like many people, I'm trying to figure out how to spend my coupon etc. All help welcome. I'm basically trying to figure out if I should get the Roland bundle+ 1 Neve plug in or the Neve bundle, plus 1 Roland plug in(probably the the dimensions D). I'm kinda leaning towards the Roland as I've got tons of comps and eq and not too much good modulation plugs.

1) So what are the difeerences between the 2 Neve Eq's and if you could only have 1, which one would it be?

2) How necessary is the Neve compressor, especially considering how much processing power it takes? Every one seems to use it as a Master Bus compresser and I'm pretty happy using the ssl comp in the Waves SSL 4000 bundle.

3) Which would you say is the the must have in the Roland bundle? And the same question for the Neve bundle?

I very rarely ust too many live instruments in my music and almost never use live drums.

Thanks.

1073 = harder sound
1081 = smoother sound

I like the 1073 on snare.

If I could only pick one, I would pick the 1081, because it can do more.

The SLL 4000 bus compressor is a completely different sound. If you like it a lot, you might not like the Neve compressor. But you never know, maybe you will find out that it is more your sound.

In the Roland Bundle. My favorite is the Dimension D chorus. I use it all the time! I also have the CE-1 chorus, but I never use it... although, it is a great model of the real thing!

Again... for the Neve, I would get the 1081 first, and then maybe the 1073 if you fall in-love with the 1081 and have more cash to spend.

btw... i record rock bands.

if you do electronic stuff... then maybe you want the neve compressor (because it can make things really dirty if you want that)... and maybe the roland ce-1 (because it can make some really trippy pitch wavering sounds)... and the Space echo can also make trippy sounds.

Thanks 4 that Dan. I think I'm leaning a bit more towards the Roland bundle. Although everything is different, I figure, with the Fairchild and the SSL compressor as I'm pretty well covered when it comes to that kind of comp. For the type of music I do (Hip-Hop/Neo-Soul)I'm thinking maybe the 1081 could be a nice go 2 eq for vox. Right? I mean between the SSL 400, URS, Sonalksis, Voxengo as well as the Pultec/cambridge etc, I'm thinking, how much more genearal eq do I really need, but it would be nice to have something a bit more special 4 vox. The roland bundle sounds like it could give something a little bit different from what I've got at the mo.

I used the demos up a few months ago and in my opinion the neve 1073 sounded better on vox (female vocals - a mix between tori amos, cranberries, rainbirds) than the neve 1083. I've asked UA if they could reset these plugs so I can check them out again, I will definitly buy one of them. best sounding software EQs on the market IMO.
