There’s already a couple of threads about this in the Unrest section and your post will most likely end up there. But you’re right that’s how it seems to be their new thinking. From what their rep here(Drew) says, it seems to be working for them so you can’t blame them, I guess. If it doesn’t suit you, you vote with your dollar quite simply. I did and removed my payment method from my account and sold most of my UA gear apart from a Satellite so my sessions can play as expected. It was a nice 15-years ride though.

Exploitation? Seems a bit hyperbolic. You got exactly what you paid for - nothing exploitive about it. Perhaps there's a world where those customers have significantly slowed down their spending due to owning most of what they want/need - so UA is going after new users aggressively - why does that make you feel owed something? You'll also find that Drew has was able to get a special promo for a certain segment of user who owns a bunch of plugins and/or hardware - not sure of the specs, but you should have a read through that and/or message him since you might qualify for it.

The exploitation term refers to the process of overcharging existing customers in order to subsidise and recruit new customers, without the consent of the existing customers. It’s not my term, it’s what was used in the UK in the Consumer Associations investigation into the same marketing technique when used by insurance and ISP companies! Of course I can choose to avoid this by no longer buying the plug ins. I’m currently running an Antelope Orion 32, and exploring the Antelope FPGA based emulations, which are significantly cheaper than the UAD equivalents, and many of them compare very well indeed.

Kinda stings seeing plugins I bought just a year or 2 ago at 300cad or more each selling for a fraction of the price now at 50 or less
Sure wish I waited afew more years to buy the 70 plugins I own would’ve cost me 80 percent less 🙄🤬😔🤫🤯😳
And now I receive zero incentive Or coupons or deals on anything I don’t already own
Oh it stings 🙄 but I still use em 🤫🫶🤘

They're giving us UADx versions for free. If you spent a lot of money on plugins in the past, it's likely you got all of them.

Personally, as I transition more and more in that direction, I find that the few available UADx plugins cover most of my needs. My only regret is that I bought so many unnecessary plugins before.

Re read the post Neotrope, at no point did I state I was no longer using UAD plug ins. I’ve invested too much money in both the hardware and software to abandon the platform! I think admonishing someone for something they haven’t said is much more akin to trolling than anything I’ve posted!
