EXS24 and UAD plugin insertions under Logic pro 7

Hi all,

I've test Logic pro 7 with UAD-1 and I've found a problem. I load EXS24 and I try to insert one UAD plugin... and I play my keyboard.. it sounds almost perfect... but if I insert two more plugins.. the sound is delayed a lot since I play de key until I hear the sound...
I'm working with a G5 dual 2.0 at 256 buffer with UAD drivers 3.6
suggestions?

Hi,
Unfortunately Logic's engine runs our plugins at a fixed buffer of 1024, regardless of what your hardware buffer is, so lowering the hardware buffer will only affect the latency of the EXS24, which is pretty minimal anyway. When you get 2 UAD-1 plugins up, that's a latency of 2048 samples, roughly 46ms, which is definitely audible. My best recomendation would be to put the UAD-1 plugins after you track, or at least the 2nd UAD-1 plugin, if having 1 is tolerable.

Fixed buffer of 1024?! those are very bad news :(
is it Apple working on this? or it´s a driver issue?

James is right IMHO. In general, if you are composing using virtual instruments in Logic 7 or 6 UAd-1 plug-ins work better when reserved for the mix stage rather than the compositional stage.

Yes, in fact it has changed a little in Logic 7, but the minimum (using small for process buffer) is still 1024. Emagic does know about it and they are working on it but I have no ETA on when a fix might be available.
