Really? I have the same system specs... you're loading presets from the little pull down triangle, located right above the bypass button?Ashermusic said:I simply do not have this problem here with Logic Pro 7.1.1, UAD 4.1 and Tiger 4.3.
Oh, so you are talking about a saved Logic "Setting" not a UAD-1 preset?Jaimo said:Really? Well, though these are accessed through the AU's "Load Setting" window, which is, yes, where one would save a preset from within Logic, the presets are still supplied by UAD. In other words, these are the presets you can download from UAD's web site, as well as the ones that install with the UAD plug-ins. They are available from that window, as well as from the VST load box.Ashermusic said:Oh, so you are talking about a saved Logic "Setting" not a UAD-1 preset?Jaimo said:Really? Either way, no it does not cause Logic to crash on my rig, Jim.
Let's make sure we are on the same page, Jim.Jaimo said:Well, though these are accessed through the AU's "Load Setting" window, which is, yes, where one would save a preset from within Logic, the presets are still supplied by UAD. But what really makes this confusing, is that some of their plug-ins, like the 1176 and LA2A do not crash when accessing their presets in this manner.
Yet the Fairchild and the Pultec Pro crash Logic when Accessing UAD's presets in this manner.
This is a bug that has been acknowledged in this forum in the past.
But you're saying you can load the UAD presets, from the "Load Setting" parameter box from the Fairchild, and Pultec Pro, and not cause Logic to crash?
I don't see "mono presets" there. I only see presets in the other rectangle to the right.Jaimo said:Hey Jay,
I think we're on the same page, meaning I understand what you're saying...
But try this for me...
On a mono track, load a mono instance of the Fairchild.
Then, click and hold the little triangle to open the "Load Settings" box. At the bottom of that box, you should see a category labeled "mono presets".
Choose "Acoustic Guitar". What happens?
My guess would be that it is because that is no longer supposed to be accessed from there. But that is a guess.Jaimo said:Hey Jay,
Thanks for hangin' in there with me.
O.K.... I wonder why I have those there, and you don't. I honestly don't remember ever moving the downloaded presets there, where Logic would see them, but I suppose that's an outside possibility.
FWIW, I am aware of the "other presets" found in the rectangle to the right, but the UAD presets didn't use to always appear there. At least not for all the plug-ins, like mono Fairchild. But I see that they do now. I wonder what update fixed that...
Obviously, I'll utilize that preset window now.
Still... the question remains, why does loading from that "Load Settings" within the Fairchild and Pultec Pro crash Logic, while loading from that same list in the 1176 and LA2A does not?
Boy, isn't that the truth!Ashermusic said:Still, isn't it nice that the problem is so easily resolved simply by loading them from the other window? Man, it would be nice if all problems were that easy to fix!
Same to you my friend. Hope it's a fruitful, healthy and productive New Year for you and yours.Ashermusic said:Happy New Year, Jim.
