I recorded two guitar powerchord tracks yesterday, pan them 90 right and 90 left.
Becuase I used the same guitar with similar settings, once in a while there would be some \"invisible but there\" thing, generated in the middle of the sound field. It damaged the width of the guitar wall, and also masked the lead vocal in the center.
Today I insert a Fairchild 670 plug-in in the group channel and called out the preset \"Center Squasher\". Gone is my problem. Clear is the center field, and wider is my guitar wall.
No tweaking. Just call out the preset and the job is done.
------
I tried some other plug-ins that do similar jobs. The PSP Stereo Enhancer creates strange feeling, something about the phase. Others are just worse. Nothing comes close to the Fairchild 670 for this job.

Times like this make me thank the very existence of UAD-1.
