Fairchild Mono doesn't load as standard any more!

Fairchild Mono doesn't load as standard any more!

Did the standard install and the first project I loaded flagged up the dissapearence of the Fairchild mono plug.

Does this mean that there is no advantage now in selecting the mono version?

Suppose that I will have to tick the option to install all mono plugins and then remove all of them from the Cubase plugin folder, except the Fairchild [so that my old songs open up OK] ..... and remember never to use it again....?

To my understanding, the mono plugs have been an optional part of the install for awhile now. They say they don't use any more CPU, but I like using them anyway just to help avoid potential confusion.

Yup, the mono plugs were all optional apart from the Fairchild which used to automatically load with the stereo ones. I assumed this was because there was some CPU saving specific to this mono plug .... ?

None. No cpu savings using the mono plugs. The stereo processors work fine on a mono track (they automatically adapt to mono use). The only reason UA includes them is because some host or other (was it Logic?) requires them. For everybody else, save yourself the trouble and don't install them.

They're also useful for special routings. For example, you may want to process a stereo track with 2 mono LA-2A's; the UAD software won't recognise you're using it as mono and you'll be wasting DSP resources.
