Feedback / loud noise when recording line out

Greetings. I am an ox noob and am looking for help recording. I have gotten a lot of help from a friend of mine who is a fellow ox user but am at the end of the line for troubleshooting.

While trying to record my oxbox using the line outs I get nothing but feedback or screeching noise out of one side.

Rig:

Macbook Pro
Logic
Focusrite scarlett 4i4
Little Labs Red-eye reamp/DI
Orange OR15

Signal chain:

TRS cable from scarlett line out --> reamp box --> or15
or15 speaker out to ox box
Two TRS cables from ox back into scarlett (one in channel 1, one in channel 2)

One channel sounds good and tracks well. One channel gets nothing but feedback / shrieking noise. The side can alternate if you switch cables from side to side. Adjusting the line out volume on the ox seems to sort of help when the amp volume is low but I cannot get a good amp signal on both channels.

Troubleshooting completed:
Different cables
Switching cables from side to side
Oxbox firmware reset
Oxbox Hardware reset
Tried different amps (2204, or15, bandmaster)

Any ideas for troubleshooting?

Edit: I understand you can run an instrument cable directly to the interface but I want to take advantage of the cab and mic/room sounds.

I would look at the settings on the scarlettes inputs like maybe one channel has a pad on and the other doesn't. If you swap left and right cables into the interface and its still persistant it more leads me to believe the interface channel settings and not the ox.

You are right.

I borrowed an apogee duet and used garageband on an older Macbook pro and it worked no problem.

I have no clue what the issue is with the Ox and the focusrite, but that is disappointing. I may need to look for a new interface now.

I'm honestly not sure how to do that but I will do some research. Their osx app is very rudementary so I must be overlooking it.

You can press the "Inst" button on the front of the interface. If the light is green, instrument mode is enabled. If it's white, line mode is active.

In the software, it's essentially the same. If the button is green, it's instrument mode. If it's black, that's line mode.

Not very intuitive, but that's how they do it....

Make sure inst is not lit for input 1 or 2. Alternately you could just use inputs 3 and 4 and not have to worry about it.

Got it. I tried the line inputs on the back but had the same results. I will try the front of the interface later too.

If its screeching, that almost sounds like a feedback loop somewhere. Have you been able to narrow down where in the chain it starts? Maybe try some TS cables instead of TRS, and see what happens if you go mono through both channels one at a time and if the problem exists in mono. Or perhaps the Focusrite is in monitor mode on channel 1 and 2 out, and that is feeding back through the loop. I believe you can toggle monitor on and off from the front of the Focusrite.

Apollo would be great replacement for the Scarlett ;)

Well I feel dumb. My audio track had input monitoring turned on and that was what was creating the feedback loop.

With that turned off it tracks more or less as expected but it seems only one of the line outputs is hot. Using two trs cables into line inputs 3-4 I only get one side of the stereo tracking.

I'm brand new to ox so I don't really know how this works tracking in stereo.
