Gain compensation for compressors

Part of what sometimes makes dialing in hardware compressors easier is the ability to turn multiple knobs at once. Having a gain compensation feature for the compressors (eg. command + click) threshold or input and adjust to taste while the output compensates would make it easier to find the sweet spot

That would be a convenient option to be able to A/B the compressor on and off but for me the input is finding the sweet spot for the compressor and the output is finding the sweet spot for the next piece in the chain so it's not that often I'd want them linked. Also, contrary to many opinions, I think adding gain at various stages is a perfectly rock n roll thing to do.
