General good idea to let 2xUAD-1s share one IRQ?

brothers and sisters,

from all what I´ve read it seems to work better to let 2 x UAD-1s share one IRQ then to let them share with other PCI-hardware. since I am experiencing drop-outs recently I am going to move the cards a bit...

I have 5 slots on my \"Volksmotherboard K7S5A\" where

PCI 1 shares IRQ with AGP = NO GO
PCI 2 = UAD-1 V1.x (shares with PCI 5)
PCI 3 = USB2 / FireWire Combo (Own IRQ)
PCI 4 = Marian Marc X Audio System (Own IRQ)
PCI 5 = UAD-1 V3.x (shares with PCI 1)

have you ppl made similar experiences? do you recommend one IRQ per 2 x cards?

thanx in advance!

Yes, it is perfectly fine and acceptable to let multiple UAD-1's share the same IRQ. FWIW, I have both of my UAD-1's sharing the same IRQ (#4).

thanx a lot! :)

okay.. that should be maybe included in the manual as a "general rule to avoid IRQ-conflicts" ... I mean those slots are getting rare these days...

already on the way to the studio to try this out...

I recently installed a 2nd UAD-1 card and actually I haven't even checked the IRQ's, it worked from the get go...I'm assuming it is sharing one between the cards.

FWIW I also have five PCI slots (and one AGP with my video card), the other slots have a firewire card, a SCSI card for my DLT backup, and my audio interface.

Frankly I've been amazed I got it all to work with no probs, so at this point I've got a stable system and don't plan to upgrade for a long, long time.

I tend to use a lot of outboard and mix with an analog desk so I'm not as much of a DSP/computer guy as a lot of people here though.
