Getting sick of UAD1 probs.....

I tell ya, I am just about to use my UAD1 cards as frisbees!!

I was working on a project ....I have 2 UAD1 cards, I had updated to 4.7.1,

I Unfroze the main vocal track that had a NEVE1073 and a LA2A on it, to re adjust the EQ, hit play....

Now mind you I have two UAD cards and had only a couple of other plugs inserted here and there, so shouldnt be any load balancing issues...

so...I hit play...

MASSIVE GARBLED NOISE OUT OF MONITORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see my woofers pumping in and out like mad!!

In a split second I hit STOP....noise still continues....meters are pegged on the master bus....Woofers are bulging like Don Knott's eyes!!!

I kill the volume....

Man...................could have been real expensive....

I can repeat the problem, as i tested it..this time with the montors down.....

I tried all the normal stuff...disable/enable....etc...I went back to driver 4.7...........

I tell ya, I love the sound of these plugs, but..........if there was anything I could do to replace them....atm I would for sure!

They are getting to be not worth the heartache....

I know, I know, a lot of people are happy that the CPU munching stuff is over, and I am happy for the people who use these things without issues, but issues that nearly fry my monitors...come on!

I have never EVER had a problem with a native plug in like I have had with these....

I love the sound of the UAD's, and I am perservering....but I tell ya....frisbeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!...8)

So, be carefull...when you are unfreezing stuff with the NEVE inserted....

thanks for trying...8)...brave man....8)...

Look it doesnt happen all the time...it happened, and I could repeat it...reboot, gone, then it came back....

its just a pain in the.....

I guess, thinking about it now, slightly calmed by a coffee and cigarette...8)....its proably load balancing, because when you unfreeze, its got to load the plug back...what I was getting at, is there was plenty of space on either card to load both plugs....

For the amount of money I have spent on DSP cards and PLUGS, I figure they should work, and certainly shouldnt practically fry my monitors...

I was thinking about this today, and remember getting it aaages ago, before I had UAD cards.

I remember it reminding me of what happens if you try to burn a 24-bit file to an audio CD.

I ain't had it in ages though...

A couple years ago when I had those smiliar problems with my PCI UAD-1 in Cubase SX3 I just changed slot's and it fixed the problem. Now recently I switched to Pro Tools HD and my PCI version would never work.I sold it and went to a PCIe express pak and now all is well in Pro Tools land. :D

I have had the same issue with the EMT 140 plug. The noise was very loud it could damage very easy your ears. Hopefully I haven´t checked my mix with headphones!

The problem is very wired, because I can use EQ and Comps, but if I use FX and Reverb... => NOISE!

This is a different issue I think - there's a thread about the reverb explosion on here somewhere (I think it is called 'Anyone had this problem with plate 140' or similar).

Personally, I've had both things happen before I had UAD cards. :? :)

I had the same problem several times before, but also with Version 4.6 and with different UAD plugins. Thank god, I wasn't wearing my headphones.

The funny or not funny part is that Dreamverb does not work and the EMT 140... The Roland Dimension D works (sometimes not).

I think I will have to switch to another mainboard. My current mainboard comes from Abit (UL8).
