glitches / overloading with only one Plug-in

I'm having a problem with my UAD-1 card. The audio glitches and cubase seems to overload. Even when sometimes only using one plug-in.

* any of the precision mastering plug-ins / and some of the others ones like *cs-1.

I'm running a dual xeon 2.8 with over 2 gigs of ram. using latest versions of Cubase SX3.1.1 and UAD 4.3 ( latest version ).

What I've done to try and solve the problem...

* Increasing or Decreasing Buffer size... only makes it worse.
* I've tried swapping the UAD card into other pci slots.
* I've tried swapping my soundcard into various other spots pci spots.
* I've taken out my graphics card and run the onboard graphics.
* Powercore Element works fine in any slot.
* Other plug-ins (non-UAD) work fine.

curiously I did own another UAD card and it ran fine in my machine. I ended up selling it to get another one.... and this new one glitches....

Add to that list is that....

* I created an FX track/group and applied the UAD mastering modules to that FX track rather than the main out.

It seemed to work better at first.

Seems to come and go.... and gets progressivly worse the longer cubase is running.

But overall placing these units as an FX group seems to work better, but still some glitching.

And now at least the cubase performance meter seems to be going a little haywire... but I think thats good because previously it was running under 5% while glitching and now it spikes up to 100% now and then while glitching. So at least that indicator is working fine as its more accurate of whats really going on.

I have a similar \"issue\" with my UAD plugins in that I can only run the UAD CPU meter up to about 68% before it overloads the Cubase CPU meter.

Once I hit 70% on the UAD-1 CPU meter, the Cubase meter pegs at 100% and I am dead in the water until I disable a UA plugin.

This really sucks!!!

I have 3 cards in a Magma Chassis btw...

good news...

With the help of Dave Sheffield from UA I got some tips to solve my UAD-1 issues. Unfortunaltley he could not help with all my emotional problems, but anyway...

I think this is definatly a graphics thing. I did notice it previously but at a subconscious level. I made some changes to the graphics display ( set to performance, not quality ) and the performance got better, not perfect, but better.

I also noticed that if I only view one plug-in at a time, the performance becomes almost perfect. Almost as if cubase/ATI graphics has trouble updating the displays on all the visual metering devices on screen at once.
And if I view no plug-ins while the track is running, its runs perfect.

So it seems to be a graphics issue, with the updating of the volume meters etc. Very strange.

I also set the computer to optimize for background services. This seemed to help further....

Its running really well now.

Where did you change this setting? in the graphics card's own control panel or in a windows menu?

press right mouse button on \"my computer\" - Properties - Advanced - performance / settings - \"Visual Effect\" -tab. ANd the Advanced Tab.

Also had this problem. Havnt tried to close all plugins windows..Ill try that.

actually, I've still been expericing the glitching issues.

funny enough they appear less often when I make FX busses and use them as send effects. But on straight insert FX it causes problems....

Same Problem

I have been having the same problem using Magix Sequioa v.7.22.

I am also not sure what the cause is. I have only had it with the Precision Limiter, with it being the only plug-in functioning at that time.

Is it an overheating thing? When I let the card cool down, it seems like it works fine when I start it back up again. I am disgusted with this problem.
