great river MP-1NV vs. Universal Audio LA-610

Hi,anybody!
I`m considering buying one of these units!
I compared the Great river to my SPL Channel one and the MP1 was way better.More Clarity in the overall sound,more details and more fat.
Does anyone have both units or knows both unit and how they compare to each other?

LA-610

I bought the LA-610 Wednesday.
I checked it today.
And i will return it Monday.
It´s a natsy beast.
Too nasty for my taste.
With -15 dbpad and lowest gain ,i still got tube overdrive on vocals.
I didn`t manage to get a really clean signal out of it.
The sound is very dull,very vintage.
Midrange is to harsh for my ears.
But the worst thing is,that you don`t get a a big warm sound with it.
The bass frequencies sounds not full.
The more i push the tubes, the more midrange i get.
Wierd piece,that La-610.
Not my one.
I`ll get myself a great river MP-2NV.
It sounds way better to my ears.
The sound is much more upfront,cleaner,full and warm.
A good example for what the La-610 can do, is the latest Slipknot CD.
Tube distortion overall,not my kind of taste.
But if you want crunchy tracks,get it.

I`m ashamed!!

Today i returned the unit and we did a comparision with the demounit of the musicstore.
The demo units sound was louder ,cleaner and overall nearer or closer.
My unit was very sensitive on the inputlevel concerning the tube saturation
which always ended up with distorted industrialstyle vocal recordings.
Even with all pads activated(preamp and mic)i wasnt able to get clean results.
Even my unit had a lower endvolume let`s say around-6db to the demounit.
Now I´ve got to wait until my new piece arrives because they got noone in stock anymore.
Honestly I´m a little dissapointed about that at all.
But it could happen!!
