Unfortunate situation, but major kudos to your neighbors. Spent a lot of time away from family in younger days. Odd emotional phenomena that Thanksgiving was actually the tougher holiday to be separated. Lots of speculation, but never quite sure why that was...

We're getting past the catastrophic event response phase here and hoping likewise you're getting there as well. For some it's that sitting in room for hours, staring at the walls thinking WTF phase. For others it's the get everyone out of danger, start shoveling waste, garbage, debris, then sanitizing and beginning to think about rebuilding. Wherever you are on that spectrum, not the other spectrum : ) , just hope things are getting better for you.
