HELP! System doesn't boot with Intel D940,ABIT AW-8 I955x mb

Because of all the problems with an AMD dualcore and PCIe cards I switched to Intel for my new system.
I bought an Intel D 940 3,2 Ghz Dual Core together with a Abit AW-8 mainboard with Intel 955x chipset.

When I put a UAD-1 in the PCI slot the system hangs during boot with the POST code 4E.
I looked it up in the manual and this is what 4E means:

1. Program MTRR of M1 CPU
2. Initialize L2 cache for P6 class CPU & program CPU with proper cacheable range
3. Initialize the APIC for P6 class CPU
4. On MP platform, adjust the chacheable range to smaller one in case the cacheable ranges between each CPU are not identical.

What does this all mean? I thought with Intel you are good to go?
Anyone?

One way to make it \"work\":

Remove 2Gb of the 4Gb RAM installed (found this here on the forum)
But now what? I had my reasons to buy 4Gb instead of 2Gb

Has anyone got any clue how to make it work with 4Gb?

They tried to fix it. Voltage settings, turn off on-board audio, turn off on-board LAN.
And they are saying: Contact your soundcard manufacturer!!

It is almost like I am talking to my self (same reaction I have e-mailing support)

But to keep anyone posted, I bought a Magma chassis and hoped it would fix the problem but stil no luck... :-(

that´s bad news. You could buy 2X512mb and try with 3 gigs, that the max windows will use anyway as long as you use a 32bit operating system (and then you have to set the /3gig switch otherwise you can only use 2gig see sign.)
Sorry that no one has a solution (altough I would be happy with the 2 gigs working)

Well, it's over three months now that I have an additional 2GB lying on my desk. I am about to give up.

Has anyone an Intel D 940 3,2 Ghz Dual Core with Intel 955x chipset running with 4Gb of RAM? Because I am willing to sell my Abit AW-8 for a working configuration.

Please let me know if anyone can advice me a good motherboard.

I have 2 UAD's that I want to stick on the motherboard and I want to expand with the new PCI-e UAD's. But I also have a Magma chassis and I am willing to start using it altough it makes a lot of noise... but hey, it sits in the \"server\" room.

Anyone?

 Solved:
I threw away the Abit AW-8 motherboard and bought the Asus P5WD2-E Premium motherboard. The asus mobo has 3 'old' PCI slots (instead of 2)so I can buy an additional UAD-1 without having to setup my noisy Magma Chassis.

So finally I have the 4Gb and the UAD's running at the same time (after more than 3 months). No thanks to Abit, alltough they tried the first week(very basic support)

Now let's hope the additional 2Gb really makes the difference...
