Help with UAD Apollo X8P - Connecting secondary monitor and TC Clarity M

Hi there,

I have just invested in the UAD Apollo X8P. I plan to move to a bigger studio soon so wanted to invest in the X8P so I'm equipped for an upgrade, rather than the X8 and then need to sell and upgrade.

I have two questions:

1. I have a mono auratone, I would like to connect this as my secondary monitor - can I simply buy a DB25 connector, connect the auratone and then set it in Console so that when I click ALT on on the front of the X8P it will switch directly to the auratone?

2. I have a TC Clarity M, I need to connect this so the output of my computer is fed into the Clairty M.
A SUB-D-15 breakout cable is included with the Clarity M for connection to external digital audio devices, as well as GPIO connection. 3 BNC connectors accept signals from digital mixing consoles or from an audio interface via S/PDIF by using the included BNC-to-RCA adapter (Stereo version has 1 BNC connector).

I used to use a Spdif cable on my Scarlett 18i20 but there is no Spdif on the X8p, so how can I connect this - I assume via the word clock?
Any resources i've found online are not helping me connect it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

THIS video might be helpful. I also have Clarity M but I use it as a plug-in on my master bus. Otherwise I'd probably connect it like this.

Hope this helps, cheers!

Hi thanks for your reply, i'm hoping there's a way to use the breakout cable to connect via wordclock perhaps?
A colleague said it may be worth exchanging for the x8, as it comes with SPDIF, but long term I would lose the benefit of the 8x unison pre-amps..

I'm not sure about connecting Clarity via Word Clock. I just realized my Apollo X6 has SPDIF so I might connect it that way.

Anyhow - yeah, I understand your thinking but I'd prefer to keep X8p with 8 Unison preamps and connect Clarity M using analog AD converter like in the video above.

I connect the clarity via USB, which works well. Probably you need to do something different.
