Hemisphere Mic Collection and Townsend Mic

Forgive if this question has been previously asked but either my search criteria isn't granular enough or perhaps it hasn't actually been asked.
I've owned the Townsend Mic well before UAD "seemingly" acquired some type of acquisition of it and then introduced the Hemisphere Mic. So I am "thinking" that Hemisphere is a re-branding of the Townsend mic?

And if so, could I use the UAD Hemisphere Mic Collection seamlessly with my Townsend mic?

I can't justify purchasing an investment in another modeling mic when the Townsend has proven more than adequate for me.

Hemisphere, I believe, is only half of the Sphere. In other words, sphere uses two capsules which allows for additional options while Hemisphere is one capsule, mono recording.

That said, you can still use Sphere with all of the various mic modeling plugins available for it.

No, Sphere is still Sphere. Your L22 is now called DLX and there's a smaller version called LX. These are dual capsule mics.

Chris Townsend is now with UA and we've release a new plugin called Hemisphere. It works with all the Standard Series single capsule mics. You get the modeling but not the cool polar pattern, off axis, etc stuff.

So you'll keep using the Sphere plugins with your L22.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions.

Ah, okay. That really clears up my initial thoughts. Thanks for the additional info.
