how many channels via ADAT

Hi!

Ok, I have an Apollo X8P, Apollo Twin, and the DSP Satellite for additional bandwidth. I recently bought the Expert Sleepers ES-9 pre-amp for my Eurorack, and the 4-710d pre from UA.

My question is whether or not it's possible for me to use ADAT to get all 8 channels (4 mic pres + 4 1/4" inputs) from the 4-710d, PLUS all 8 channels from the ES-9, all via the ADAT ports in the back of my Apollos.

I've been running the ES-9 to my computer via USB-C, but then I have to change interfaces between the Apollo and the ES-9 in my DAW and can't record live from my Eurorack and instruments simultaneously via both interfaces.

I'm hoping with my X8p and Twin daisy-chained via Thunderbolt that I can run both the other pres into the Apollo, all via ADAT. Is this possible? It would be a total of 24 tracks.

Thank you in advance!!!

ES-9 optical is 2 channel SPIDF. The ES-8/7/6 combo would be the devices to get 8 additional DC coupled channels in and out of the Apollo. That said, on a Mac you may be able to create an aggregate device to get both ES and Apollos into your DAW, but that has some limitations.

The 4-710 will work fine for 8 additional inputs with x8p up to 96k or Twin up to 48k. Use Apollo x8p as master clock over BNC to 4-710, but it doesn’t matter whether you go ADAT into x8p or Twin.

So if Ininderstand you correctly, I should acquire an es-8 if I want to send 8 channels of audio from eurorack into DAW via my Apollo…?

ES-8 is outs to Euro. If you want ins to record from Euro, you need to add ES-6 and ES-7. ES-8 is needed for ES-6/7 functionality.

Thank you for the reply. I’ll keep learning and investigating. Bummer I need 3 new modules to achieve this. 😐
