How to delete the UAD plugins that I don't own?

Hello,

I just got a new computer and when I try to add a plugin in a ProTools session it shows a ton of UAD plugins that I don't own. Really a pain to have to wade through them all to find the ones I do own. Is there an easy/fast way to get rid of the ones I don't own?

Thank you in advance

Are you mac? If so, you can just go to library/audio/plugins/component (or vst/3) and delete them manually. Maybe something like daisydisk would do that quicker.

If windows, I honestly don't remember but I think you have to use the uninstaller for each one to do it right.

This reminds me, I need to do the same thing :ROFLMAO:

Yes, I am on a MAC. I am very new to all this, but I will try to figure out what you said. Thank you.

for windows, in the past i alwayss manually moved the not owned plugins into a separate directory that gets not scanned by the DAW.
the downside, for each UAD software reinstall, you need do to this again and again and again.

but nowadays, as i´m using Cubase and its having a Plugin Manager, its not needed anymore, i can directly do this in Cubase through the Plugin Manager

+1 In windows you can delete them individually from the corresponding folders that method works just fine
I usually move them to a different folder as a precaution just in case I mess something up and need to replace them
don't get rid of the console recall file whatever it's called

vst3 plugins are in C:\Program Files\common files\VST3

non- vst3 versions are in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\ in the appropriate sub folder

HAHA, I knew someone would do that. Daisydisk. It's really handy for 10 bucks.

It would be best to move unused UAD plugins into a folder titled UNUSED, that way Pro Tools won’t see them clogging your plugin list. Then in the future if you purchase a new UAD plugin, simply move that plugin out of the UNUSED folder into the working plugin folder. Otherwise you’ll be forced to reinstall, which will put back any unwanted plugins.

man, that’s a great idea, if only someone had designed an automated way to do that… oh wait!

The way I did it was with daisy disk. It was a hassle because I had to drag every single one (and there were TOO many) into the collection for delete. If you do it from the finder, you can select all of them much easier, but that looked scary. I was afraid that I'd accidentally delete something I didn't want. All the other selections mentioned would be a good idea maybe.

Would just be nice if you could simply install what you want like Spark.

+1 for Plugin Cleaner. Great little tool that does exactly what you need, as well as eliminating some UA Connect faff too.
