How to determine which Apollo Twin Duo is mine? Part 2

Here's the complete Story :)

I have a Home Studio, and another Studio that I share with my Guitar Player (I'll refer to it from now on as HIS Studio).

My Home Studio uses a MId-2012 15" Quad Core i7 (it replaced an earlier 13" i7 I purchased in 2013), it has LPX on it, and I use an Apollo Twin Duo that was Registered in my Name/UAD Account in 2013.

FWIW, that original 13" i7 had LPX on it, and it was the computer I was using with my Apollo up until 2019 when I purchased my current 15" Quad Core i7.

HIS Studio has a Mid-2012 i7 as well, it has LPX on it, and it has an Apollo Twin Duo, both purchased and Registered in my Name/UAD Account.

My goal is to have both Computers/Apollo Interfaces to have the same Plugins on them.

Today:
1) I got MY Computer to work perfectly with MY Apollo (as well it should).

2) I got my Computer to work perfectly with HIS Studio Apollo.

I will interject here that only one Apollo shows up in the List of My Hardware in my UAD Account.

Here's "The Problem" I'm having now :)

When I connect HIS Computer and Apollo, when I call up a Console Session (which obviously has different Sessions), and then insert a Plugin that I know I've Purchased, the Plugin first shows as Disabled, and when I turn the Plugin On, it then shows the "DEMO (14 Days)" Alert.

So why aren't the Plugins that work with MY Computer and MY Apollo, the same Plugins that work with MY Computer and HIS Apollo, not work when I use HIS Computer and HIS Apollo (that as I stated earlier, that Apollo was initially Registered on my old 13" i7)?

Thanks,
Jerry

Any plugin purchased and registered on any UAD hardware should work on any compatible system with the correct software installed. The hardware is the dongle.

If it meets the reqs and it’s still not working, best to reach out to support as it sounds as if there’s an auth issue.

PS

As I stated earlier, and to confirm my findings, I just hooked up HIS Apollo to my Computer, and HIS Apollo/Console/Plugins works perfectly with my Computer.

PPS

Does it mean anything that HIS Apollo does not show up in my UAD Account (even though I Purchased it)?

If so, how do I Register it almost 10 years after it was Purchased?

Only plugins HE purchased will be available on HIS UAD hardware and only plugins YOU’VE purchased will be available on YOUR UAD hardware.

Neither HIS nor YOUR computer (PC/Mac) factors into it with DSP plugins.

If, when you purchased HIS hardware, it was not properly transferred with the plugins (transfers of hardware allow for two options ‘with plugins’ and ‘without plugins’ then you may have had access to those plugins up until you attempted to authorise the hardware and add it to your account. At which point the plugins would revert to not authorised and you would only be able to use them in demo mode.

Re hardware and plugin auth issues post a sale or transfer from another user, especially one indicated as approx 10 years ago, you need to contact support to get a definitive answer.

He Purchased HIS Computer, and I purchased both Apollo's, and I have purchased EVERY UAD Plugin bigshinyT.

To make sure my memory was correct, I logged into HIS UAD Account, and he has no Hardware or Plugins in the Account, which tells me he never Registered the Apollo (at least in HIS Account).

I'll contact Support, but please note that I was never able to Register HIS Apollo into my Account, which makes me ask one more question :)

Where, and is HIS Apollo Registered?

Do you have the purchase receipt in order for the one you are calling his?
No, but in my Account, under "My Hardware", it shows three APOLLO-TWIN-DUO's (I share a 3rd Studio with another friend), and it lists them as SYSTEM1, SYSTEM 2, and SYSTEM 3.

SYSTEM 1 shows all my plugins.
SYSTEM 2 shows no plugins.
SYSTEM 3 only shows two plugins (Lexicon 224 and Galaxy Tape Echo).

You can only have one desktop Apollo (such as the Twin) per system, as I understand it. This explains why all three are registered to you, but each is in a separate system.

Here's the part that makes NO sense to me :)

When I use MY computer with HIS Apollo, all the plugins I own work/open fine.

But when I swap my computer with HIS computer, using the same Apollo, now every plugin I own will only allow them to be accessed in the Demo Mode.

The only two plugins I can use (without starting the Demo Version) when using HIS computer, and HIS Apollo are the Lexicon 224 and Galaxy Tape Echo.

When in my UAD Account, this matches what my UA Hardware states:

"2 Plug-Ins associated with System 3"

Why just those two?

This sounds to me like the reason UAD plugins are authorized the way they are. To keep users from abusing the software license by sharing hardware and plugins with other people the way you might be trying to do. You might benefit from reading the terms of the license agreement with UA. I’m not sure, however It may be possible that you could be violating that license by sharing devices and plugins like that. I’m just thinking aloud here….maybe this is why it’s not working the way you want it to?

But I own/Purchased all 3 Apollo's Rainflower, so how is it a violation to share with myself?

If I had to purchase the same plugin 3 times because I owned 3 Apollo's, IMHO, that would make no sense (nor cents :) ) to me.

PS

Then why does MY computer/Console work perfectly with my other Console that I Purchased?

I keep saying it seems to be the computer (HIS) that makes that Console not work, not mine.

From Universal Audio:

UAD-2 plug-in licenses are tied to your UA account and are arranged within your account by system. Up to six UAD-2 / Apollo devices can be registered to a single system within your account, and all the devices registered to a single system can use the plug-in licenses within that system. In order for two UAD-2 / Apollo devices to use the same set of UAD plug-in licenses they must be registered to the same system within the same account.

PM me and we can set up a Zoom to go over all this. Super tedious to try here IMO.

Looks like I can buy 3 more Apollo's Rainflower, and if/when I do, I need to Register them into my System 1.

Since Up to 6 UAD-2 / Apollo devices can be registered to a single system within my Account, all the devices need to be Registered to a single System so they can share the plug-in licenses.

Thanks for alerting me to check with UAD, as since I Purchased all 3 Apollo's, obviously UAD does not think I was trying to abuse the software license by sharing hardware and plugins with other people, because I truly wasn't trying to do that Rainflower.

And I'm confident that's why you used the key words "the way you might be trying to do" :) :) :)

Thanks!

Jerry

PS
I've contacted UAD to Transfer System 2 & 3 into System 1.
