How to set up Apollo x4 and Not Hear Microphone

How do I configure the Apollo x4 so that I can use a microphone, hear sound through the speakers, but not hear what the microphone is picking up through my speakers? In other words, if I tap the microphone I should not hear it through the speakers. I am attempting to set up Sonarworks

Thank you.

You're exactly right. I am relatively new to Apollo and have not been using Console. Once I remembered to check Console it made complete sense. Thank you.

Hey Drew. I have a question. I am watching a YouTube video and listening to the audio through the Apollo x4. On YT the volume is all the way up. The meters on the Apollo are consistently in the red. The Monitor level on the Apollo is 3 illuminated green lights. Is this normal for the Apollo to be in the red? Thank you.

Yes. It depends on the level of the YT vid.

Hi,

I have a Console session that uses the C-Vox C-Max (previously I used the Precision Limiter) as an insert on the Virtual 1/2 channels for general system output on my Mac, with a Ceiling of -0.1. That prevents the Monitor meters from hitting the red. ;)

Muting that channel in Console prevents the channel input going into Monitor. Is that right? Sonarworks app somehow can listen to that channel outside of Console is that your understanding?
Yes, on your first question. Sonarworks is picking up a signal from the microphone through the speakers, but not sending the same signal out of the speakers because it is muted in Console. I am just getting started with Sonarworks, Console, etc so hopefully this is correct. Thanks for inquiring.

Yes. inputs exist in the driver individually as well as when they send to the Mon outs.
