Here is my contribution to the paranoid and delusional. I'm leading the front. Just slightly...

Anyway, I \"think\" I got the sound I wanted out of this song. I feel like I'm getting better at mixing and mastering. I'll let you be the judge. I have two guitars panned to either side and guess what... their out of phase. I think it sounds better out of phase, but they just dissapear in mono.

The main vocals were done using a C1 and on the backups (doubles) I used a sennheiser 421. The sennheiser works great for backups - it has a really thin sound on my voice.

Anyway if y'alls have the time take a listen and let me know what you think.

Thanks

Nice stereo movement on the rhythm guitars. What kind of delay(s) was used?

To me this has a 'Retro-80's' sound --- Sort of Ray Davies meets Trevor Horn: Lotta highs, scooped mids.

Cool.

Cute, Totally reminds me of the pet shop boys in your chorus/hook.

Nice 80's Vibe :)

Not much on the out of phase Gtrs although it is a nice effect, I'd prefer to see them a little out of phase, maybe 15-25% out of phase. :)

That's exactly what I thought (before I saw your post). I immediately thought of "West End Girls". Nice song Toystein

*sigh* I wish to hell I could get a loud, clear, well imaged, well balanced recording like this. Was this all done homestyle?

btw: I have working on a song that has almost the identical rhythm guitar riff hehehe.

interesting sidenote. I listened on my monitors first (HR824s). The image was HUGE and the stageing was immaculate. The guitars were a good 5' outside the monitors and a good 2' in front. The bass sat slightly right/middle and everything else had a great aligned image. Almost perfect really.

As soon as I put it on a regular system that all disappeared :(. Very few songs give that kind of image for me on my monitors. I am very interested to figure out what about that mix gives my monitors the joy.
