I just can't get outboard hardware to work

hi -

I'm simply trying to plug a microphone into my Apollo rack, route the signal OUT to hardware, and back into Apollo rack to record in LUNA.

I would like to plug my microphones into my Coil Audio pre amps, then into other hardware (la3a, 1176's, Pultechs, etc). All the hardware is though a patch bay, everything is working when I send an audio track out though the hardware, but when I try to get a live audio signal to route out to the hardware, even using the same track that audio will route to the hardware, it sounds like it's doubled (like a flanger or chorus, like the old cylons did in the 1970s) I can't seem to mute the incoming audio. I hope I'm explaining it right. Here's a diagram:

LUNA audio track 1 - prerecorded audio --> OUT Apollo rack line 5--->patch bay ---> into Coil Audio pre amp (or whatever I want in the patch bay) ---> into Apollo

Works, no problems. Just like it's supposed to. Easy.

SAME THING:

Microphone into LUNA audio track 1 (same as above I just hit the little red dot and the i with the circle to monitor) --> OUT Apollo rack line 3--->patch bay ---> into Coil Audio pre amp (or whatever I want in the patch bay) ---> into Apollo

Cylons.

How can I mute the dry signal and only hear the wet signal?

I have tried this:

In my cue outputs, I do not see "source" as shown in that page example, I've attached a screen shot, so I can't even get past #1 on that page.

Any clues?

Hello Rainflower,
Thanks for your suggestion.

Yes, when I mute the channel console, it mutes the mic, which means I don't hear anything. Yes, I agree with you, I am monitoring the wet and dry, I just want to hear the wet!

It's crazy. I don't know what to do!

I'm not understanding?
If you want to use hardware for recording it is much easier to do it on the way in, not in the middle of the chain.
Why aren't you just plugging the mic into the Coil mic/pre, then into whatever hardware processor, then into Apollo and Luna on a line input?
I use hardware for recording all the time.
My mics go into the hardware mic-pres, then hardware EQ, then into Luna via Apollo's line inputs.
