Importing Takes/Versions - the easy way?

Hi y'all! I've been working with remote musicians, who might send me multiple versions of a track recorded in another DAW. Let's say, 10 versions. Is there an easy way to grab all the files from the Finder, drag 'em into a track in LUNA, and have each one create a new version?

In Logic I could import a bunch of audio files (they'd show up as separate tracks) - and then I could just select them all, click "Pack Take Folder" - and they'd get all bundled up for easy swipe comping.

In LUNA it seems like I have to just manually add one audio file at a time to one manually created version on a track at a time? Or...is there some easy way to do this that I just haven't figured out yet? Thanks for helping!

I've always just dragged my highlighted files from Finder directly into my Luna window (tracks). Luna creates a track for each file you dragged in.

Sorry if you already tried this.

I think OP is asking whether you can drag a group of files to create multiple takes (versions) for a single track. I haven't tried it, so don't know.

Coming from Cubase regarding track versions (Cubase=Lanes), you can export them out but they come out in a folder. Within the folder there are individual tracks. I can only drag over the individual tracks.

Right - I can just drag the files into LUNA and it will create separate tracks no problem. But what I want to do is to drag my 9 versions of the bass track into LUNA and have it automatically create versions WITHIN a track (instead of 9 different tracks). Or an easy way to take 9 tracks in LUNA, select them all, and say "make these all into versions on 1 track instead of 9 separate tracks" and have it do that. Or something like that. I was hoping that there was maybe some trick that exists that I just haven't figured out how to do yet (versus what I am doing, which is manually creating 9 new versions, and then dragging each file into the new version that I create for it). What I'm doing works, but can just be labor intensive when there are a lot of versions.

Imagine a drum set recording, with 5 versions...and 9 mics...so I'd have to manually drag in 5 versions for each mic....one at a time...doable but super tedious!

currently its not possible to import audio files into Luna and have Luna automatically create different versions. You will have to copy and paste manually, and yes, tedious. I could be wrong, but I dont think any DAW does that not just Luna. Even in Logic is not a direct process.

@AlexR - thanks for confirming (unless anyone else has a magic solution?) - at least in Logic it's just a select->right-click->"Pack Take Folder" away! Also would be great to be able to expand versions, so that you can see them all at once - sometimes I can't remember which version had the alternate take on the 3rd chorus, etc....so much easier to see it all in front of you at once (ala Logic) vs. having to switch from version to version.

That being said, I'm still doing my best to migrate my limited knowledge and workflow from Logic to LUNA anyway. :)

In the meantime, try and work with fewer takes. Nine bass takes?
I most often deliver a single take when working remotely. I sometimes send an additional take with different fills so the artist or producer can piece together all their favourite bits. I would think three bass takes would be more than enough?

in general - yes - totally agree. In this case, it was essentially 2 or 3 core takes of the whole song. The other 6 or so "takes" actually just had snippets here and there so I have some options - a different fill I wanted, a different approach to the ending, a certain section played legato instead of staccato, etc...

(one reason why being able to expand the view to see all the versions would be so helpful - to make it easier to get visuals on all those little snippets in relation to the overall track at once, versus having to hunt through the versions one at a time)
