Installing as a VST or Audio Unit?

Hello.

Just got my first UAd-1 card yesterday and I have to say it sounds great!

Can someone tell me what the difference is between an Audio Unit and VST? I am using Logic and installed my UAd-1 software as a Audio Unit only, should I have done VST as well....any advantages to using both?

Thanks...

Different plug-in technologies – AU is Apple, VST is Steinberg. Logic uses AUs only, so you don't need to install the VSTs.

However, if you're a preset person, you may wish to download and install the VST presets package (you'll find it in the download area of UA). Bizarrely, the AU and VST presets packages are not identical – there are more in the VST one. You can load VST presets into the AU plug-ins using the \"Load\" button on the interface.

VST presets folders should go inside here:

Boot HD/Library/Application Support/Universal Audio/Presets/

Kind regards.
