Is it possible to play through an AU amp sim

Hi I often use my DAW to play guitar through an amp sim plugin and headphones. I'm confused as to whether this is possible in Luna?

Sure, why not? Live monitoring, either through the interface directly or in the DAW, should not be a problem.
Do you use an Apollo? You can also load the plugin into the Console view and and don't use a DAW at all.

Thanks, I use a UA Volt 2, and the amp sim is Amp Locker by Audio Assault.

Much better now that 32 sample buffer is an option for native processing. Previously it was 512, then a small (128 sample) was added, but now all buffer sizes from 32 up are supported.

quick question regarding this - have been mixing in other DAWs for the last 6 months and just fired up LUNA for some writing... I can't seem to play through any 3rd party amp sims.. as soon as I hit record or "monitor" (the I button) - the amp plugin disables. I feel like I'm missing a setting perhaps? I don't remember this behaviour the last time I used LUNA this way, though that was admittedly many updates ago, so maybe something has changed? Or I need more coffee...

This is what I heard. I heard you can only enable the amp sim after recording. I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Switch to core audio mode.

If arm is off, with an Apollo, can we lower the buffer to 32 and record a non UAD amp sim at that buffer?

It works.
I haven’t tried it since the last update that gives you lower buffer options.
At 128 samples, it was totally workable. In the early days of amp sim software, you had to get used to a little bit of latency. Consequently, I’m not that sensitive to it.
*The sims I use that aren’t UAd unison are Nembrini AC30 and Soldano SLO models as well as the Native Chandler GAV30 (Brainworx).

Uh not if it is a AU you can't (at least that is what I thought) Console will only do UA DSP plug ins. Right?

Yep. Only UAd plugs in “console”.
