Is UA not developing plugins for the Apollo anymore?

Doing both has MUCH higher dev costs, so Product does things for each sometimes.

We are continuing to develop the UAD and Apollo DSP platform with software updates and new products. Stay tuned for exciting product updates in the future and rest assured that the Apollo and UAD ecosystem is stronger than ever.
I wish I had known that this meant that you would not give a rats ass about developing plugins for the Apollo anymore.
If you don’t think it’s worth investing in the platform then why should your costumers?
How many plugins have you released for UAD-2 since? I can’t think of any.

“We will not release mixing plugins for the Apollo” was the message we got when you started releasing only native plugins.

Then came the amps. Plugins which the Apollo is literally made to run.
Uh, no, it’s too costly to develop for both.

I get it, things change. But I think it’s a bit deceptive to lure people onto your “premium platform” that you don’t believe in yourselves anymore.

This is nonsense. We have a new DSP only plugin coming soon.
No it’s not nonsense. At least recognise that you have been changing your tune all along.
One unreleased plugin in 3+ years while neglecting the amp plugins, and rotary speaker is not a reassurance of the strong commitment you claimed two years ago. But I’m happy that it’s not completely forgotten about.

I guess no one remembers the Hallelujah Chorus's worth of vitriol that was leveled at UA because "dsp was dead", "sharc chips suck", and no one could believe that they were still bent on releasing dsp only plugins in 2020.
Yeah, I would love the Dream65 to be dsp but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that it - won't - fit - on - a - chip, at least as is. Maybe a cut-down version - ?

That choir has been singing steadily for the past 10 years.
Actually I’m not so sure. Judging by the CPU consumption the Dream 65 plugin is quite modest compared to the Tweed/Woodrow. Lion and Ruby might possibly have to be cut though, like removing boost and/or room.

it probably could if the speaker/room part was handled by a separate Ox Stomp plug-in! Maybe!

Wo needs DSP-only plugins for mixing anymore?

As an Apollo owner I couldn't care less. I mean I don't want to be tied to a DSP accelerator anymore, especially ones that are underpowered by today's standards.

You complain about UA not giving a damn about the Apollo platform, about kind of lying about maintaining/further develop it, like it's not a worthy investment right?

It already as a lot of value as it is. And if they decide to share ressources, it doesn't mean it's abandonware. You buy what it is, not what's hypothetically coming.

So yes, I couldn't care less if it's put on the sidelines to make space for other products or if they only release something every new moon.

I also invested in it, and don't feel like UA didn't hold their words. I invested in something knowing what I was, not what it will be or should be.

Thing is, there are still lot of top class plugins that are UAD DSP only.

Have a good one!
