It's Not The Bomb (Sort of a funk/rock thing)

And yet another recycled tune from the 90's. A typical funk/rock thingee I'm beta testing a new piano lib and drum libs so I am laying this down to see how it goes.

The title, 'It's Not The Bomb' is sort of a play on words: To my son the expression means, 'it sucks'. Hopefully it doesn't. Or it won't at some point.

As always, it's early days. Please be brutal about the mix. BUT BE SPECIFIC, PLEASE.

The Macarena part? Well...

oh I really dig your bass parts! I can hear a big Peter G. influence. The production is excellent, and the mix in my headphones I can just tell would translate well on my speakers.

Excellent work.

For the mix you mentioned brutal... The only thing I didn't like was the piano sound. It's no big deal, but upon first listen that was the first thing that came to mind. Everything else I very much enjoyed.

Thanks!

Thanks, Toystein. This is probably the first response to -any- song I have posted in about a year so things must be getting better. ;)

BTW: What did you dislike about the piano?

Cheers,

The piano, doesn't sound bad per say, it's the first thing we hear, maybe it's too dry to my ears. I don't know, it's only in the beginning... after everything else comes in it fits well. I wouldn't worry about it.

I try to translate the first listen as well as possible, if that's the only thing I could come up with, you must be doing something right. I like this track.

hi, nice tune. one thing i thought would improve the drum sound is more variation in the snare. especially at the end with the break, when that snare starts in it should be snappy and cookin', bring everybody back in the tune. then the final splash chorus should have a more energetic feel than the rest of the tune, possibly all fixable with the snare

i agree that the piano doesnt' quite sparkle

Thanks for listening.

The problem with improving the snare is that I don't play drums well enough to do things too 'snappy and cooking'. After a few variations, I run out of licks! (Especially that type of groove which is pretty tiring to play---for me anyway.

I'll see what I can do, though.

:)

Cheers,
