both pres? I have been selecting the api mic pre for 6 months now assuming that if it's on a stereo track I don't need two pres

When linked you are using 2 pres. So if +48v is on, then both are sending.

To be clear, you're plugging both XLRs into your Apollo?

I just recorded a stereo track with the mic and all looks and sounds good.... but still no light.... Tech support takes days to get back to me. Is that the best we can do today?

If this were my mic, I’d open it up and look at the jumper to see if maybe somehow it became disconnected. since this is the way to turn on and off the led, it’s seems like a good place to start. usually these little jumpers are a pretty snug fit and shouldn’t slide off on their own…it wouldnt hurt anything to check it out to be sure. leds are pretty well known to last a long time, but they can fail-just like anything. i’d start with the jumper, then contact support.

ok, with that being said, if I choose to live without the light is my mic being compromised? Like I said it appears and sounds fine.

Not at all. The LED is just a visual indicator. If you're receiving signal from both capsules, you're good to go.
