Logic Pro?

When I got my Mac back in July, I downloaded the demo.....and hated it! :ROFLMAO: I dunno, it was just quirky and unforgiving. But yesterday, to my surprise, I was able to download/install and use the demo. I'm addicted now. Sleep? Meh, who needs it. I guess maybe it's a little like Luna the first time around where I had to revisit it later to appreciate it. For one thing last time, there was no way other than midi to have a track armed per what you select. Maybe it was a bug from a previous version? Seems to be a breeze this time around.

It's still a little quirky. For example in the editor sometimes the cursor stops. It's hung a couple times, but hasn't crashed. Midi editing is a bit funky (hard to believe there isn't an easy way to do notes horizontally w/o using the mouse, it does up and down). Nudge doesn't work here yet, I guess I'll figure it out.

Love the input quantize options. I wish it was global though. I also (like Luna) LOVE the midi fx slot. Very handy for me rather than having to make a separate channel and all that. I've also discovered some handy "not obvious at first" key shortcuts that make life easier. Being able to have just a GUI open for plugs on one track programed on the Stream Deck is nice. Having a bunch of windows open at once is just cumbersome. And it integrates pretty well with my Arturia Keylab. But it doesn't work well with my Faderport 8.

I'm curious to see if after the killer trial period if I still feel the same, but I've put about 10 hours into it and have a pretty good grasp with it. Logic is a right of passage for Mac, right?

A couple of the things in Logic that I would like to see in Luna are 1. vastly expanded midi editing capabilities, and 2. swipe comping. I use Logic for more complex midi work, but I have adapted to Luna's comping. When I get a tune in my head, I reach for Logic since I find it easier to jot down and manipulate ideas in the Logic midi editor.

Even if you are not new, these YouTube channels are a must.

absolutely :)
and then if you need a serious palate cleanse from that, watch Benn Jordan ;)

I'm just getting into Logic Live Loops that was added several years ago. The workflow could certainly allow me to switch from Ableton, although I'm not sure if I can do the complex CV/Gate and external MIDI routing that Ableton provides for interfacing to my synth and modular gear.
That's popped up a couple of times, I'm not ready for that!

Will do. It's odd this time around. The ones I remember from back in July/August were not that great, but this time I seem to be striking gold :)

It's not an easy DAW. A little like Reaper, lots of extra steps and it's missing some things.....no, I'm not going there :ROFLMAO: Too early to start wanting things because even though I've literally gotten no sleep from being fascinated with it, I'm light years from "knowing" it. Oh well, I've got 88 days to get to know it ;)

One thing that is frustrating with the vids is that they've really changed Logic, even in the last year. Dude is doing a vid where some of things just are not like that anymore and at first it's a WTF moment.

Well, as much as I like Luna, it's hard to deal with the lack of controller support. I'm not going into why I want to break up with Live, it's just frustrating to be that deep into it have that happen. Who are these people, and why are they alive? :ROFLMAO: I realize Apple isn't exactly a shining star, but as I said, I kinda feel (like Luna) that Logic is a right of passage being a Mac guy now for quite some time.

Hey, anyone want to buy Live 12 or a Push 2 controller? 😶

I’m a Mac guy and I’ve never used Logic.
Cubase and then Luna.

Hehe, I dl'ed 13 last night. Let's just say that it's already been deleted. Thats the thing about all this stuff, one persons dislike is another's gold.

What was wrong with it?
For one thing, I couldn't figure out how to get this sh...y Arturia Keylab MKII to play nice. That is not cubendo's fault, but it's useless to me w/o it. It's pretty cluttery imo too. Luna, Live, Studio One and now demoing Logic are all far cleaner to me. And being on Mac, it's only VST3 which I personally don't like. I forgot about that when I dl'ed/played around with it. I like AU myself.
