Logic. UAD-1, Host Processor peaks.

I'm running Logic 7.1 on a 2nd Gen Dual 1.8 (PCI), Panther.

When the UAD-1 is at about 80% CPU load I'm getting a situation where both Logic CPU meters shoot up into the red and I get Core Audio errors. The weird thing is that it doesn't always happen. Sometimes when I press play, the CPU meters are at an expected 20%, then they'll shoot up to @100% after a few minutes. Sometimes it happens when I press play right away. Sometimes it's better when audio tracks are selected, sometimes not.

If I reduce the UAD-1 load to under 70% all is OK.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Regards

Stephen

Hi Stephen,
What sound card (audio interface) are you using, and also what are your Hardware and Process buffer size settings in Logic?

James

Thanks for replying.

I'm using a MOTU 896 Firewire, buffer size 128 or 512 usually - but all sizes cause this to happen.
