Looking for soundcard advice - G4/Logic/UAD

Can anyone recommend a soundcard (PCI/Firewire, whatever) that they know from personal experience will work with my rig?

G4867DP, LOGIC 6.3.3, 2X UAD 1's, OS 10.2.8

I'm looking for quality, but only stereo in/out (it's all I need), but the more upmarket soundcards seem to have far more I/O than I need, hence wasting money from my point of view.

Currently running a Delta 66, which actually works pretty much ok (occasional pops/crackles when G4 is working hard, and particularly when adding Cambridge, for some reason...anybody?).

Thanks in advance for all opinions.

Re: Mac G4 Audio I/O & Drivers

The MOTU 828 Mk 1 & II are rock solid, as is the RME (PCI or firewire) gear. You might also consider the Metric Halo I/O's - there is a stereo only version.

These are the top-tier mac drivers, I'd say everything else is secondary ( M-Audio, Tascam etc - not that it doesn't work ). Not everyone knows how to \"play nice\" with drivers and the UAD-1 on the PCI bus and this is not UA's fault.

I have been using an 828Mk1 - zero issues in OS9 or OSX since day one when they first came out. Am just upgrading to a RME Fireface 800.

Don't fuck about saving money- it'll only cost you time and aggravation. There's a reason MOTU & RME are the benchmarks and have been around.

Mac G4 Quicksilver, Dual 1 gig, Logic Pro 7, UAD-1*2, TC Powercore*1, SATA, Sonnet Tempo Trio.

I have your rig (DP 867 G4) I have a MOTU PCI-424 Crad (2408Mk3) No issues whatsoever, UAD-s work great inside the CPU or in my Magma Chassis. Life is Grand. :)
