LUNA Mixdown Downsampling Question

Question: how does rendering down to a lower sample rate than the current project work in LUNA? For instance if I'm running the project at 96k and I render at 44.1k, does it first render at 96k and then downsample to 44.1k or does it just render natively at 44.1k? If it doesn't render at the session rate and then downsample, is there a workaround to achieve that outcome?
 
For anyone who cares, I spent the time to test this myself. It does in fact render at the project sample rate and then downsample to the lower rate after render.
