Mac OS 10.4 unable to communicate with UAD Hardware

I have 2 x UAD cards installed on a G5 Dual 1.8 (PCI version). I'm using Tiger 10.4 and all of a sudden when I open the UAD meter all the authorizations are gone and I get the following message

\"Powered Plug-ins error - unable to communicate with UAD Hardware. Please make sure your hardware is installed\" This also comes up in Logic 7.1

The cards are definitely in the PCI slots OK as I checked. Logic 7.1 AU Manager can see the plugins themselves and they are authorized but no hardware. Has anyone out there had the same problem?

Thanks

You'd probably have better answers if you post it in the Mac section of this forum.

you probably have a version of the UAD-1 software older than v3.9. v3.9 (current version) is the latest version which supports Tiger, older versions will not work with 10.4

Has the card been working in this machine (did it just suddenly stop working)? Have you tried re-seating the card in it's slot as well as zapping the PRAM when you bootup again?

all good now

Hi

Everything is resolved thanks everyone. I've had this problem with Tiger before. For some reason if the software has gone awry slightly, it can't see the cards. Tiger seems to need to have the software working properly to be able to see the hardware! I uninstalled then reinstalled and everything turned out fine. Happy days again!

Yes, if the drivers are not properly installed (or the version of drivers is not supported for a particular OS version) the cards will not be recognized, either by the UAD-1 software or in System Profiler. And once again, in case someone finds this thread in a search, you need at least UAD-1 v3.9 for support under OS X 10.4.x (Tiger). :D
