Midi Status Indicator

I can play midi sounds from Shape using my Controller keyboard and LUNA does record my playing on the midi track.
I can also hear the Shape sounds while monitoring as I have the ARM button engaged as well as the record button and input monitoring is also on.
However there is never any signal showing in the midi workflow status indicator no matter what I do.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The manual is very vague, only stating that "Status" indicates external MIDI activity, but not how the indication is actually displayed.

Not sure if this means the keys on keyboard in the status bar are supposed to illuminate on external MIDI input (they don't on my system either, and I made sure I was playing the same octave as the keyboard bar is displaying). Or there is supposed to be some other indicator (there is not for me with an external keyboard). The only indicator I see as far as MIDI input is when activating the "midi keyboard" button and using the Mac keyboard.

Hi Joe and thanks for your prompt reply.
I only started using LUNA recently as I have some Apollo hardware and the DAW is free. I normally use Studio one 6 Pro but I do like LUNA in many ways but watching the STATUS indicator light up on the tutorial videos when a midi keyboard is being used I do find it strange that I cannot activate it no matter whether I use the Mac keyboard or an external one despite all midi being recorded and the sound is heard in real time from the Virtual Instruments. I guess I could uninstall and reinstall LUNA and see what happens but as I am just starting out using the manual and the You Tube videos I won't bother just yet as everything else seems fine.
