Model me this UA!

I think UA should concentrate on a faster and better DSP solution, we already have PCI-E. Potentially there could be some issues like, will the newer hardware run on both, what would be legacy and the newer UAD, Then there's a questionof support, where will the focus the new UAD or will they still cater for both hardware.

Then UA should concentrate on modelling some of those units mentioned, otherwise it will be the same old story of distributive processing just to get a decent plug-in count at one time.

I would love them personally to model a Filterbank like the Sherman one.

AMS would be fantastic. For me I would love to get an AMS reverb + EMT 250 reverb. Killer combination!!! If they model it as good as the Plate 140 - wow.
But i'm not shure whether they have a new reverb planned at all, but i dream on ...

Arguments for the EMT 250
-------------------------------
- fantastic sound
- hard to get
- very expensive

Very good reasons to model it, it's like the fairchild, Pultec or Plate 140.
It sounds great, but you can't buy it new.

EMT-250 has already been modeled by TC Electronic and it is available for Powercore (DVR2). I don't know how close to the original it is, but it sounds fantastic.

Mmmm AMS ...

They would have to do the 1580 delay too! As long as they got the legal go-ahead to copy the algorithms and modeled the converters and any I/O non-linearities...it seems like they could seriously nail the sound with close to 100% accuracy. Probably just wishful thinking though.

What about modeling high-end AC cables and medical grade outlets? You're never gonna get that pro sound without those!

So you are suggesting UA model some sort of RFI 'thingymajiggy'. Or you could just use the 50hz/60hz harmonics EQ Filter available in most pro plug-ins.

Actually I've seen IEEE female 3-pin cables for £80. Absolute madness, even if it does supress electric interference.

I sensed some sarcasm, so I quickly skipped around the subject. I want UA to model a supermodel. That would be cool, she would inspire you to make better music.

Strange that they did not add the Studio rating + X-Fi enabled!!

Anything that can make an mp3 sound better than \"studio quality\" is ichiban in my book! I'll be buying at least one for all the hip hop kids who bring mp3s to spit on top of! And I'm sure they'll be glad to not have me complaining about how they need to work with a different producer if their producer thinks delivering finals as mp3s is acceptable.

Ugh, how pathetic.

You gotta do what you gotta do. Turn on the SRS 'Wow' if it's going to get the kids off your back, it's not like people working at Ocean Way show mixes to clients on the NS10's.

I bet the Creative MD is a 14-year old kid, at least that is the impression you may get. I think it's absolutely ludicrous they won't license the X-Fi technology to E-MU so they can improve on their soundcard range. Christ they could even just make a seperate DSP solution.

Not that I'm advocating anything here, because I still love my UAD plug-ins.

Anyway rant over.

Upsampling MP3 is like trying overclock a record player as far as I am concerned.

All it takes to impress most people in the studio is volume. Not some "uncompressor." Even a 128 mp3 will sound good to most people turned up loud. But it's gimmicks like the xmod that will make people think using mp3s for production is ok. Especially since it's "Better Than Studio Quality!"

I am just sick and tired of people using mp3s for production. Let alone the fact that people are willing to pay for inferior audio quality simply because it uses less room on an ipod. Yes, I am that odd, dorky guy who is willing to still carry around a cd player if I must have music every moment of every day. Maybe some day I'll get an ipod, but even then, all audio files will be run as wavs/aif.
