It all depends on your preference. i LOVE the BM6's that I got fro Eric at JRR Shop. Genelecs have titanium tweeters which can sound harsh or \"buzzy\" imo (like the Mackie's). The Dynaudios are smooth, but might sound a little less present in the top until you get used to them.

Find a place where you can listen to them, or ask Eric of you can buy witha \"return\" otion in case you aren't happy.

Try them.. being a guy who has always avoided Genelec 1030 series like the plauge, I've fallen totally in love with the new 8000 series. We sold all our current monitoring Mackie HR824, Alesis MOneMK2A, Yamaha NS10s, and replaced them with a pair of 8040 and 8020.

BM6's are good. If they are going to be your only monitors then it might be a good idea to get a sub unit to help on mixdown, unless your using them just for tracking.

Also it might be a good idea not to rely on more then one set monitor from the same company to check your mix.

I'm thinking of getting the BM6 to compliment my 824's. I could not replace my 824 with tiny drivers and expect to get good bass extension from smaller drivers without spending a couple of grand.

Bob Katz has been saying really good stuff about the 8040's recently, enough that I'm lusting after a pair for myself.

ADAM decided to lower the price of the new active A7's to $999 per pair. P11A's are in the same price range as the 8040A's & BM6A's, though, & are proven winners. Does anyone have thoughts on the new JBL's?

As far as ADAM's are concerned I was thinking S3-A's or upwards.

Also when you start talking upwards, atc start comming in to the picture.

I've never heard Event's range, so I can't comment on them, but I've noticed alot of people in the US use them and I give respect to the way most commercial US produced r&b and hip hop tracks are mixed, and produced for that matter.

oh, and i'm not saying it got anything to do with events. so no arguments please

Exactly like me and a heck of a lot of other people. Genelec 103x series sucked major. Extremely fatiguing, bad translation, horrible tweeter etc. but the new 8000 sounds like a completely new system! Well, it also IS a completely new one. New drivers, new amplifiers, new cabinet, new design in every way and they rock! Even the tiny 8020 is a fantastic mini-nearfield monitor! I'm seriously considering the 8020 for a portable setup even though I already own the 8030 + 7050 sub.

Ex-genelec hater turned fanatic believer! :D

If you have this kind of money then also do not forget about the Barefoot Micro Main 27 near/mid field. It's been getting a helluva reputation lately (as the ADAM killer).

Cheers!
