Monitoring Logic software instruments through UAD?

I've been recording with Logic for many years but new to the UAD system and despite being blown away by the quality of the sound from it (especially the guitar plugins) I can't seem to solve this problem.

I've switched off software monitoring in Logic and have my headphones plugged into the Apollo. I can hear live audio tracks no problem, but software instruments, in this case a MIDI drum track in Logic, I can't hear.

Obviously I need to hear tracks in Logic to track a guitar over them, but I can only hear the guitar plugged into the Apollo, and playback from instruments in Logic is silent. I can switch software monitoring back on, but then I'm not getting the benefit of monitoring in the Apollo.

Can I monitor everything through the Apollo?

Inexplicably, restarting Logic fixed the above and I could hear software instruments fine... feel free to delete the thread!

Is your MIDI drums on Logic’s instrument track or is it in the software instruments timeline?

if it is the latter, write a blank mini region on the instrument track to prevent the software plug-in from shutting off. This is a resource saving feature within Logic.

I think this is a matter of routing Logic L&R back to 2 virtual channels in Console. You can then set up a balanced mix between what you’re recording and what you’ve already recorded without touching anything in Logic
