More love from Edge.

I saw the Sphere show and vividly remember pointing out how his tone was different than previous tours. On many songs, it was gain-ier. Of course, I'm sure that was just a choice of his. Given how they needed to control the stage volume to keep the Sphere sonics performing well (drums behind plexi-glass), I'm not surprised by the reliance on modeling.

Disclosure: On the side, I play the edge in a U2 tribute, so I'm probably more hyper-aware of his tones, settings, scene changes, etc than 99.9% of the population. For venues where I know volume will be an issue, I use a Kemper which has a profile of my exact Vox amp's settings. Too bad UA didn't have these pedals out when I bought the Kemper.

Read the full interview on that website. An interesting and enjoyable read. Hinting at new amp sim could possibly be in the works! Also in one photo, James had what looks like a Dumble behind him, with a UAFX pedal on top of it.

Nice to hear about the design choices made along the way.

Edge using the pedals definitely gives them some authenticity for players who so far haven’t dipped their toe into modelling. I have the Ruby, Lion, and Dream, and think they are amazing!

Also in the interview;
James: "There was a running joke for a while when we first started this. Our previous UAD platform, it still runs on a SHARC processor.”

Previous? Might we see an ARM platform for interfaces?
