Will watch later. BTW, the "dumble" in THU is pretty sweet. The biggest issue with THU is the cabs are.....a bit meh. The amps are really good. Anyways, thanks for posting this, although I'll never have the money for one, it's interesting.

Have you tried the new 'Liquid' cabs in THU? I downloaded the update the other day but haven't had time to try the new cabs.

That doesn't look like the Dumble I saw Robben playing in the early 80's, which had a Vox diamond grill cloth. The blonde in the video must be his 2nd? I saw Robben with the Yellowjackets when he first got the Dumble and had the head on a music stand right in front of him and tweaked the amp throughout the show.

I wich TPS had been able to do a similar video with David Lindley and his Dumble.

Alexander passed on in poverty. So did Tesla.

Fascinating how these geniuses lived their craft without regard for much else, including money.

I used to see RF regularly at Donte’s in the San Fernando Valley (late 80s/early 90s). Pre Blue Line. He’d play a SF Deluxe with a TS9, wah, and volume pedal. Usually using his Fender RF model solid body.
He sounded exactly like Robben Ford.

Yeah. Actually, I think I've got a beat on a good price (just a couple of days of demo left) and bought that "pack" since it was well priced. BUT, all I got was one speaker/cab :cautious: It says "pack" so I've got a ticket out. But still, if not used properly, they can be a bit thin. A couple of cabs are pretty beefy. Man, that thing has WAY too many amps/cabs, etc. :ROFLMAO:

But back on topic, I've seen many RF/Dumble vids and they are always interesting, I'm sure this one is no different. WAY out of my price range (er, and most people)

What was interesting about this vid is Robben let Dan, Mick and their mates play through the amp.
What a treat and honor!

That was great, again. The stories are fantastic, the amp is fantastic, he seems like a really cool guy (been following for longer than I can remember)

Hehe, the funny part is that right after that the "regulars" were talking/playing and how much difference their tone is :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, man. You gotta love it!

i also dug the story about Carlton plugging into Ford’s Dumble rig and not digging it and Ford doing the same with Carlton’s Dumble rig and not feeling it. Horses for courses.

Isn't it true though? I mean, many of us live in the virtual ream and still it's the same. What works for "you" might not be my bag, and visa versa ;)

Yes indeed!

I am always open to demoing new things but It’s more just for fun and curiosity. 🤘

Not for me :ROFLMAO:

So I dooded it on the THU. It was way too expensive BUT I bought it at Sweetwater and it's 36 mo. no financing.

Hopefully I'm done this year.....yeah right. Anyways thanks for posting this, enjoyed it.

Gonna watch this later. As TPS mentioned earlier; there is not a typical dumble sound, ans they were all different. So I’m more than curious how a real one sound, and how it connects with the player. That usually comes across in their shows really well.

Also, the sound quality of TPS is way too good to represent the pedals. It never sounds like that, ever, when I ordered something I bought after watching their show.

Like the Royal Overdrive by Van Weelden (#32). Regardless, I love their channel.

Yeah, that's the thing. Like mentioned, Robben didn't like Larry's, and the other way around. But they are the "same" model.

Plus, most guitar players or bass players sound like, well, themselves. Let's take Satriani for this example. He could play through anything and he'll sound like him. I'm not really any different, I sound like me. Most everyone is like that.

I also like your point about getting some piece of gear and it not sounding like the "examples" (which isn't exactly how you put it, but I get your point). All those Dumbles are very different from one another and your liking/not is going to depend.

Fun and frustrating at the same time ;)

I bought some Arturia software (CMI V) on the 36-month plan recently. Gotta love the low monthly payments.

I've seen Robben play a 335, Les Paul, Tele, Casino, etc. through Yamahas, Dumbles, Fender Super, etc. and no matter the gear he always sounds exactly like Robben. Coincidentally I've spent most of the past few decades trying just about every guitar and amp out there and I always sound the way I did way back when I only could afford 1 guitar and 1 amp ... yet knowing that doesn't stop me from chasing all kinds of new gear 🤷‍♂️

as mainly a studio guitarist these days, demoing new gear is something I routinely do to expand the tonal palette.
I do have my favorite gear for rocking out with the band that hasn’t changed much in over 4 decades. 🤘
