Multichannel Support - Redux

Just wanted to raise this spectre again.
Despite the best efforts of the stereo community, Multichannel ain't going away - and it would be really nice to have at the very least a multichannel option for the UAD-1 tools.
As the current situation stands, I have to use 3 slots for a surround Master buss, and use a panner in FX busses.

I wonder how many of the stereo heads who argue against MC adaptation would be so happy if they had to use 2 instances of every plugin to gett stereo support?

Well I guess we should be lucky not having to use 6 instances don't we? However I could really use some multichannel plugins for the 10 year anniversary surround remix I'm doing right now. Third card on it's way (Thanks JRR Shop) and $500 of additional non surround plugins.

That's a good way of looking at things - nice attitude sir!
To be blunt, even a kind of Multichannel "shell" would be good (I nicked the idea from another post & modified it) where I could load up the UA plug of my choice and it would be a multichannel version. I think, from memory, that one of the DAW applications has something like this (Sonar?)

As for multichannel plugins in general, there are not too many out there.
What platform are you on?
If you're on PC, drop me a PM or better still an email, and I can send some links & suggestions for you.

Neil, I have been thinking the same for quite a while now. Maybe nothing happens in the mc deparment because UA think that all film pro's work in ProTools.

This is not just UA; TC neglects mc as well. I tried on several occasions to have Alexsey at Voxengo to consider this niche as well, with no luck (though Pristine Space is one of his clear hits)

maybe we have to realize that our niche is too small !? I hjope not and I don't agree on this.

I started another thread here to try to exeercise a little consumer pressure. Let's see how this works out.

cheers

Halfdan, Aleksey is finally adding MC support to the version 3 of CurveEQ. Hurrah!
I for one do not accept the thinking that all Surround is done in PooTools, and surround is far from limited to movies these days.

If you drop me an email, I can let you have links for all the surround plugs I am aware of - and the list is not large, sadly.

Actually, it seems even 7-11 is selling surround stero packages these days.
Sooner or later somebody will demand content content content...

The most odd thing about this lack of tools is that it should be an obvious advantage for brand X to be the first with mulitchannel support. Would I buy a Powercore the minute they added this !? or another three UAD's !?

betcha !

Pro Tools have its advantages, no doubt. I'd rather spend my excess money on instruments, though, when it seems that other software is every minute as functional.. plus, I have severe problems swallowing that notorious Digi corporate arrogance..

and finally, so good to hear that Alexey is moving. He is one of the operators that confirms my belief in a healthy competitional marketplace.
