I have decided to be blindingly honest, I hope you don't mind. ;)

First of all... i suppose it is important to know what you are going for as far as mix style is concerned.

Here are some general obsevations.

*The guitars sound WAY hollow and more 'rocktronic-y' than I would like, part of that is taste, but another part is just over the top IMHO. I want to hear less razors and more balls when it comes to the guitars. Something is funky with the phase and I would like less at 3-5k or so.

*The overall mix is also heavy at 3-5k Especially around 3.2k. I would also like to hear more overall balls in the mix with some more happening around 125hz keeping 250-350 about the same.

*The vocal also suffers from quite a bit of the emphasis around 3k. It sounds kinda telephonish and hollow again. I am wondering about mic/preamp/room here. Still a lot could be done to add presence and beef to the track.

*The drums are surely well played but sound like a cheap drumset in a badish room. If there is overall reverb on the snare and overheads, it is not doing the right thing. It is making them sound small and kind of crummy. The cymbals don't sound too bad but just a little clangy. The kick has some 'butt' in it but dont enough definition and overal body. The snare sounds pretty good but the verb (or room) makes it sound small and hollow again.

*The bass needs more definition . And more bottom.

In the end getting the holoowness out of the guitars to an extent and wringing out the telephonic quality of the vocal and dropping the roomish quality of the drums would bring the mix into a whole new realm. Then mastering with less push around 3-5k (although remixing should fix a lot of this) would make it sound nice.

Good song! Well played.

thanks caps, going to do the whole thing over, agree with your points,i think i have uploaded the wrong version though, will give it another go with said suggestions and i`ll post it back up

On guitars , have a marshall 1/2 stack but playing that at any reasonable volume is impossible in the room, with a pod xt pro i`m wondering if i could get a better job done with that , or a bit of both

With the consistency in the hollow sound, His mix room might have a hollow sound to it. And he might be physically in a bass trap in his mix room as well.

think u could be right there, am using my attic, so u can imagine the pitched ceiling and numerous walls in there, not ideal for a mix room, wife wont let me use living room . lol

Little warmer (gtrs, but still quite edgy.) vocals are thin and bottom isnt Full (good tones)

I agree it must be your attic cuz below 400Hz it's weird......
