So, it's belly-up. I have zero downtime but......there is no direct support link that I can see. I have that license support thing installed, but I don't know where to find it on my Mac. Has anyone been through this and know what to do? I know there is an RMA to send it back but everything seems to work here on the cloud for now anyways. Maybe ZDT should be not important and I should just use the cloud. I dunno.....

I migrate to new ilok key every 3 years as USB media keys have limited lifespan. Just moved both of mine to USB-C models, well last year I guess. Only way to fly. I did the ZDT thing yearrrrrs ago, back on an iLok mk1 -- cannot recall the procedure.

What I don't understand is that there is a license support app and it's nowhere to be found. I'll google around. The bitch of it is that I want to sell a license and it gets to where you select the license and it's greyed out/error. I don't want the dude to have to wait unnecessarily.

Oh wow, they want 30 bucks to ship it back! That seems outrageous.

Actually (and it seems really confusing) they charge for a new ilok. That actually makes sense, but I can just go get one at GC. BUT, I cannot move, deactivate or transfer anything even though they are on the cloud. This is going to be an issue.

I did figure out how to send a support ticket, so we'll see.

I'm screwed. The only way to be able to transfer, move, deactivate anything on the physical ilok is to do an RMA, have them do a recovery, and then have them ship those back on a new dongle. It's expensive and frustrating.

It's my fault. If you'll recall, I saw this coming in a thread I started a while back. I should have ponied up for the new one and then I wouldn't be in this situation. Now, since you have more than one auth, I was able to get everything on the cloud, so I still have those ilok things ok.

At this time, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. It's the first time I've ever really had an issue with ilok in I guess a couple of decades. Egg on my face.

Mines is years old. Maybe over a decade. It’s an ilok2. Maybe I should go all cloud. Sounds like a big hassle. Thousands of dollars in software licenses on it.

I'm kinda weirded out about the "cloud". I most definitely did not purposely have any licenses on the cloud, but they all seem to be there

I only had to authorize one plug on it's own.

A couple weeks ago I bought another iLok USB-C as a backup, then authorized everything to it. None of my software is authed to my Mac and I don't trust the cloud. These dongles are small, fast, reliable, and relatively cheap, so I am not complaining.

Yeah, I didn't do that, hence I'm screwed. So, go with the cloud or spend about 80 bucks. Starting to feel a bit ripped, although they would send me temps. BUT, that only lasts two weeks. What if they didn't get it all done in time?

Does anyone know why I had nearly everything on the cloud?

I just ordered a new dongle. It's just too hard to keep up with more than one computer. Question is how to I conveniently transfer all licenses (cloud and this computer) to it? I have so many.......

When you get new ilok key, load up the ilok manager app and follow instructions to drag stuff from old key to new key.

I replace my iloks every 3 years since usb sticks are known to die over time, out of paranoia. Migrate stuff from one to the other.

Ilok is weird. Just did a clean install (thank goodness, I've been a BAAAAD BOY with installing, uninstalling.....e-gads) but all my ilok stuff is there still, either with the cloud or on here. Ilok manager takes care of that.

I had forgotten that it's not as simple as "transfer to the stick" when one goes bad......now I'm bummed. Had completely forgotten about the SS that was this when I started this thread. Sorry for the neckro.......

ya,… same,…. crikey.

@chris, sorry to read this stuff. I don’t think it’s your fault. We have to pay for license stuff, the very least they can do is provide better support. It feels a bit like the tax agency,..we’re more or less required, and because of that, they can just be assholes 😅.
