My UAD-Sonar nightmare

Hi folks:

I've been visiting this forum silently for some years.

This is a problem I’ve been dealing with my whole UAD-Sonar experience. I have the Roland Bundle (and waiting to buy the Neve Eqs), but can’t use them. By the way I’m stock with version 3.9 and can’t upgrade. If I upgrade Sonar no longer recognize all my work done with the old versions of UAD-1, the plug-ins appears in a parenthesis but doesn’t work.

Curious, I can place new ones (of the new version), and my old presets migrate with no problems.

I wrote to UAD tech support, and they finally told me to call by phone. I’ve called so many times from different phones, but it sounds busy (877-698-2834). This has been like that for months.

I even bought Sonar 6 (from 4) just to use the new UAD-1 plug-ins, since UA are no longer making the DX drivers and the Sonar 6 VST platform is much more solid that Sonar 4. Now I can’t upgrade to 4.5, use all my Roland plug-ins nor buy any other plug-in without losing all my work and mixes.

Is this normal? Isn’t any way to migrate your previous settings and tweaking?

I have 3 UAD-1's in a Sonica-X (Pentium 4), Windows XP and 2 gigs of ram through a Fireface 800.

It sounds like you were using the DirectX versions of the UA plugs. As of 4.0, UA no longer supports DX plugs, just VST. Of course, 6.2 has native VST support. You can always save all your presets from project in sonar 4, then reimport them into the VST's in S6.2.
